It’s so very easy to become blind and brittle in our society. I am often moved by stories of people helping out. I have heard a great many stories of people helping with food, money, assistance and more, but I have a big shout out for MY community today.
On Saturday, November 16, tragedy struck the family and friends of Chris & Brittany Hesling. Chris (30), Brittany (31), Jack (4), and Maggie (6 months) were traveling home to St Mary’s, Ga after celebrating Brittany’s birthday when they were involved in a head on collision. Tragically, Chris, Brittany, and their son, Jack passed away as a result of the collision. They are survived by their 6 month old daughter, Maggie.
As you can imagine this is a disaster of epic proportions for everyone. The pain I personally felt when I heard this brought tears to me eyes. In the face of terrible tragedy my community has answered the call to help this family in their hours of great need.
A fundraiser on Go Fund Me was arranged to support of both Maggie and the family during this incredibly difficult time. I urge you to consider donating, because this beautiful baby will have needs far beyond the final expenses of her family.
My humanity is refreshed by the lengths traversed to help this family and child. Our community organized a breast milk donor drive called “Maggie’s Milk Bank” so that this baby can continue to receive the valuable breast milk her parents intended.
We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love for “Maggie’s Milk Bank”. I have received hundreds and hundreds of texts and messages. Please don’t take it personal if I haven’t responded yet. We have been able to bless Maggie with a huge supply. We have a waiting list of moms ready to help. Right now we are no longer taking donations but we will post again when/if we need more.
Thanks so much to Maggie’s milk moms. Here are a few pictures of her receiving her first donor bottle this morning. ? Brittany and Chris would be overjoyed to know how quickly the community has come together for their sweet baby girl. Many, many thanks to you all. Please continue to pray for the Hesling and Trowell families.

Next time your spirits are down, think of this gigantic outpouring of love and support and know that even you can always make a difference. If we never help others, we never deserve help.
Please take a moment to donate and/or more importantly say a prayer for these families in this time of unimaginable grief.
May God the Father who made us bless us.
May God the Son send his healing among us.
May God the Holy Spirit move within us and
give us eyes to see with, ears to hear with,
and hands that your work might be done.
May we walk and preach the word of
God to all.
May the angel of peace watch over us and
lead us at last by God’s grace to the
Kingdom.
