The general public really doesn’t understand that autistic adults exist. It’s messed up, where do they think we went?
I have asked people this question so many times in my life, as I am a scholar of people (mad autistic skills). Most answer that they just “have never thought about it before” (sad AF). However, a DISTURBING number of people answer that they assumed we were institutionalized (yep, real talk). We are not all Rain Man assholes!
So, adult autism doesn’t exist. If you doubt this check out the class action regarding Tylenol/Acetaminophen where the ACTUAL alleged victims CANNOT receive compensation unless their mother is alive. I’m NOT saying I believe the claims, just saying that as an actual alleged victim I don’t exist.
