You know, I’m not the conspiracy touting type… But it seems like either there is an active campaign or serious lack of ability related to “Deaths from Vaping” going on. Here is yet another one!

On September 16th a man in California died of “vaping-related illness”. Tulare County where he lived issued this statement. Which is the same blanket, uninformed crap we have been getting. It generalizes the issue in a very un-detailed and dangerous manner.

Dangerous, why dangerous?

Dangerous because like all of the information I have been able to track down thus far, it groups all vaping in a general manner. Just like all of the others I have been able to find information on, the man was in fact vaping THC. So these warnings, hiding or simply failing to report factually could in fact lead to more deaths. How are people who vape THC supposed to know that they should be concerned with all of this misinformation?

The deceased man’s sister confirmed that this appears to be the cartridge he used, BUT with low-priced counterfeits running rampant in the illicit market, the company named on the package may have nothing to do with the death. pic.twitter.com/5BWI1t9JHO

Maybe all the conspiracy rumors are true…. Big tobacco is hurt by nicotine vaping as it actually DOES help many people quit smoking. Nicotine vaping isn’t perfect by any means, but it is safer than cigarettes.

Tobacco companies have lost lawsuits defining their guilt. Reports of Cancer being linked to cigarettes goes back in to the 1950’s! Here is a VERY nicely done account of Tobacco Litigation: History & Recent Developments done by an attorney. Below I have a few infuriating take-aways.

  • When the first reports emerged linking cigarettes to cancer emerged in the 1950s, plaintiffs began suing cigarette manufacturers. Plaintiffs in these early cases — usually smokers with lung cancer
  • In the 1990s, plaintiffs began to have limited success in tobacco lawsuits, partly because some cigarette company documents were leaked showing the companies were aware of the addictive nature of tobacco.
